Concrete paving slabs are man-made, uniform, and require the same level of maintenance as a natural stone.
That said, they are faster to install, because the laying technique is different to natural stone, and therefore cheaper.
Some manufacturers produce ‘riven’ (meaning split -like fissures in natural stone) finishes, but these imprinted patterns are usually too few to notice when they are laid in a larger area i.e your eye begins to notice that these apparently ‘natural’ markings, are repeating themselves.
My advice if using concrete slabs, is to play to their strength, and choose a style for its straight edge and smooth surface, that’s what they’re best at.
